Dentures in Los Angeles, CA

Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth that help you chew, speak, and smile comfortably. They are custom-made dental prosthetics available in various styles, including full dentures for those who have lost all their teeth in the upper or lower jaw, and partial dentures for those who still have some natural teeth but need to fill gaps.

Dentures are made of acrylic, with some containing porcelain teeth, and rest directly on your gums. Natural suction and dental adhesives help prevent shifting and keep them in place for a stable and comfortable fit.

Why Choose Dentures?

Dentures are an excellent way to replace missing teeth without invasive procedures. Removable dentures restore your ability to eat a variety of foods without having to undergo surgery and months of surgery, and partial dentures prevent any remaining teeth from shifting. Dentures also protect your oral health and improve your speech by minimizing lisping. For those on a budget, dentures are less expensive than dental implants. At Brentwood Dental Center, our denture specialists custom-design and create dentures that perform naturally, look beautiful, and are incredibly comfortable.

Types of Dentures We Offer

Our prosthodontist, Dr. Goto, a denture and implant specialist, brings expertise to every set of dentures, focusing on precision and aesthetics. Using high-quality materials and advanced techniques, we create removable dentures that fit comfortably, look lifelike, and complement your facial features. We offer several types of removable dentures, employing various fabrication techniques, to meet individual needs:

Full Arch Dentures

When all or most of your teeth are missing in the upper, lower, or both jaws, we can design and fabricate a full arch of replacement teeth that fit over your gums to restore function and an attractive smile. The upper arch, or plate, covers the roof of the mouth (palate) and stays in place through natural suction. The lower arch is horseshoe-shaped to accommodate your tongue and is held in place with denture adhesive.

  • Conventional Dentures: Crafted after teeth are extracted and gums have fully healed (typically 8–12 weeks), these dentures are designed for optimal fit and comfort, ensuring long-term functionality and a natural look.
  • Immediate Dentures: Made in advance and placed immediately after tooth extraction, these allow you to maintain aesthetics and function during the healing process, with adjustments made as gums heal. Dr. Goto typically performs teeth extractions at our office, enabling us to extract teeth and deliver an immediate denture in the same appointment, in the same chair, for a seamless experience.

Partial Dentures (Partial Plates)

Partial dentures are ideal for patients with some healthy teeth remaining, helping prevent shifting of natural teeth and restoring function and aesthetics.

  • Conventional Partial Dentures with Metal Framework: These partial dentures feature a durable metal framework that securely clasps onto existing teeth, providing stability and strength. They are ideal for patients seeking a long-lasting, sturdy option that blends seamlessly with natural teeth.
  • Lightweight Acrylic Partial Dentures: Made from lightweight acrylic material, these partial dentures are designed for comfort and affordability. They are less invasive, easy to wear, and suitable for patients prioritizing a lightweight feel while restoring function and aesthetics.
  • Flexible Acrylic Partial Dentures: Constructed from flexible, biocompatible acrylic, these partial dentures offer a comfortable, metal-free option that adapts to the mouth’s natural contours. They provide a natural appearance and are ideal for patients with metal sensitivities or those seeking a more flexible fit.

Our Process

The first step toward getting custom dentures is a consultation with Dr. Goto, one of the finest denture specialists in Los Angeles County. He will review your dental and medical history, answer your questions, and perform a thorough exam of your teeth and gums to determine the extent of tooth loss and whether you have any jawbone or gum conditions that need to be addressed, such as gum disease. A personalized treatment plan is developed based on his findings.

Any treatments, such as periodontal therapy or gum grafting, are performed to prepare your mouth for dentures. This may add some time to the process, but it is essential to a comfortable fit.

When your mouth is healthy and ready for dentures, Dr. Goto will take digital impressions and measurements of your mouth. These are used to custom-design your dentures for a comfortable, secure fit and a natural appearance. Our dental lab works closely with Dr. Goto to ensure your dentures are crafted from the highest-quality materials using the latest techniques.

When your  dentures are ready, you will return to our office for the initial fitting. You will try them on, and Dr. Goto will check the fit, appearance, and functionality, making any necessary adjustments. Once they are “fine-tuned,” he will explain how to care for your new dentures and what to expect in the first few weeks as you adjust to wearing them.

Caring for Your Dentures

Caring for removable dentures is relatively simple and is crucial to maintaining comfort and proper function. The following denture care tips will keep them in top condition:

  • Rinse your dentures with cool or lukewarm water after eating. This removes food debris and bacteria that can form plaque and contribute to gum disease and infection.
  • Clean your dentures properly. This means brushing twice daily with a soft brush and either a mild liquid soap or a non-abrasive denture paste. Before bed, soak them in water or a denture soak to keep them fresh and prevent warping.
  • Protect them from damage. If you are traveling, store them in a carrying case and always clean them over a towel over a soft surface to prevent breakage.
  • Don’t sleep in them. Dentures rely on a snug fit, which reduces circulation, so your gums need to rest overnight to benefit from improved blood flow.
  • Call us if there is a problem. Do not delay contacting us if you notice that your dentures have become loose, are rubbing against your gums, causing sore spots, or are slipping or shifting. Also, contact us if you notice any cracks or chips. We can improve the fit and repair any damage.

Denture FAQs

How long do dentures last?

With proper care and good oral hygiene, dentures typically last 5 to 10 years.

Can dentures be worn overnight?

It isn’t a good idea to wear your dentures while sleeping. Your gums need this time to rest and for circulation to increase to the gums and jawbone. Your dentures may also dry out, particularly if you are a mouth breather. Soaking your dentures in water or a denture soaking solution is best.

Are dentures covered by insurance in Los Angeles?

Most dental insurance plans cover at least part of the cost of dentures in Los Angeles, with many paying 50 percent or more. This varies depending on your coverage limits, deductible, and other factors. Please check with your insurance carrier to determine your coverage limits.
